Nearly 50 billion pieces of litter are discarded along U.S. roadways and waterways, according to the Keep America Beautiful 2020 National Litter Study. In keeping Kern beautiful and recognizing  Earth Day, Kern Oil & Refining Co. (Kern) hosted its first-ever Earth Day Clean-Up event.

With more than 30 volunteers and support from Kern County Public Works, our team helped clean up the debris that littered the roadway in front of the refinery. Over the course of the morning, our volunteers collected enough trash to fill the bed of a full-sized pick-up truck – more than 1,100 pounds.

We are extending many thanks to our volunteers and Kern County Public Works for their support and contribution of supplies. Kern Oil & Refining Co. is proud to do our part to make our community – and planet – a safe and healthy place to live.
